Historian Lesley Smith joined the Most Haunted Live team for their three day live investigation
of Portsmouth in May 2006.
Lesley is undertaking a masters degree at the University of Birmingham, focussing on her
special subject - the private lives of women in the 1580s.
She has uncovered previously forgotten and colourful 16th century methods of contraception
and has lectured on her subject at the university’s Medical School.
Lesley is also the curator of Tutbury Castle in Staffordshire, the former prison-home
of Mary Queen of Scots before her execution in 1587.
Lesley has experienced a number of unexplained phenomena, including
a terrifying experience at a church in Cornwall. As a ten year she suddenly saw the kneelers lifting and falling on
their own. "The rise and fall was coming up the nave towards me. I was frozen with fear before running out of
the door," she says.
